Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

Annyeong! (“we”, “us”) is a free travel-guide website for visitors to Korea. This policy explains what data we handle and how. We keep the site as privacy-preserving as we can: there are no user accounts and we do not sell your personal information.

What we collect

  • Trip-planner inputs. When you press “Build my trip”, the choices you make (trip length, who's coming, interests, travel month, and any free-text notes) are sent to our server and forwarded to Google's Gemini API to generate your itinerary. We do not store these inputs after your itinerary is returned, and we ask you not to enter sensitive personal information in the notes field.
  • Preferences in your browser. Your chosen language and light/dark theme are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. They never leave your device and we cannot read them.
  • Location (only if you allow it). On a Shot Match page, if you grant camera and location permission, your device uses them to show a framing guide and distance to a filming spot. This happens entirely in your browser — the camera feed and your coordinates are never uploaded to us.
  • Standard server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process technical data such as IP address and request headers to serve and secure the site.

Advertising & cookies

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which helps keep the site free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.
  • For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see Google's Privacy & Terms.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, we present a consent choice for advertising and analytics cookies before non-essential cookies are set, and ads are shown in non-personalized form unless you consent.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links to travel and booking services are affiliate links, provided through partners such as Travelpayouts and its partner brands. If you book or buy through one of them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These partners may set cookies to attribute a booking to our site. Affiliate commissions help keep Annyeong! free, and they do not change our recommendations — we link to places because they’re useful, not because of a commission.

Third-party links

Itineraries and spot pages link to external services such as Naver Map and ticketing sites. Those services have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Because we don't hold user accounts, most requests concern advertising cookies, which you can control with the opt-out links above.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
