K-Drama Filming Locations: A Seoul + Gangneung Road Trip

Day one: Seoul after dark

Start in the city with scenes that come alive at night. The Noksapyeong overpass in Itaewon frames Namsan Tower glowing behind you — the determined night-walk look from Itaewon Class — and it is best after the tower lights up.

By day, the Deoksugung stonewall walkway makes an easy palace-side add-on, especially in ginkgo season when the leaves turn the whole path gold.

Day two: the Gangneung coast

Take the KTX east to Gangneung (about two hours from Seoul) for two spots that sit close together. The Jumunjin breakwater is the buckwheat-flower confession from Goblin — go about an hour before sunset for the light, and bring a red scarf like everyone does.

A short hop away, the Hyangho Beach bus stop recreates the lonely seaside stop from BTS’s “Spring Day,” kept in place for fans. Mornings are quieter, before the tour buses arrive.

Getting the shot right

• Golden hour (the hour before sunset) flatters most outdoor scenes — plan the marquee spot for then.
• Weekday mornings mean smaller crowds at the famous frames.
• Bring the one prop fans associate with the scene; it makes the recreation read instantly.
• Check closure days and weather for the day — coastal wind can change plans fast.

Respect the location

Many of these spots are ordinary public places — a working breakwater, a real bus stop, a residential palace wall. Take turns, do not block others waiting for the same shot, and leave nothing behind. The reason these scenes are still visitable is that fans keep them pleasant.
